On Life and Love

Cars. With Coffee.

Mark K.Charlotte is a city cool enough to have a Cars and Coffee event monthly. As the weather gets colder, the turnout seems to be reducing, but I went this weekend and had a blast.

I’m not very knowledgeable about the innards of cars, but courtesy of C&C, I’m learning. M.K. (and the friend of his I met this weekend) is more than happy to pontificate on the differences between the LS3 and LS4 engines, as well as the pros and cons of an M-series BMWs vs. the more tedious 1-series. I’m happy to absorb it all–even in the cold–with the comfort of my home-brewed coffee.

When it came down to my “what dream car would you drive off the lot”, I came to this:

Ever-so-slightly older Lambo Gallardo

This is probably the first Lambo to really catch my eye. When surrounded by penis cars, a snub-nosed, big-butted car stands out. Indeed, one of the things I love about my own 2002 Hyundai Elantra is its blunt nose and round bum.

Hrm. Let’s… not… examine that too closely.

While I liked that Lambo, the grilled engine door (trunk? hood?) looked very 1980’s to me. I much preferred the glass door of the newer model next to it:

The cute catch of the morning was this utter sleeper of a Volvo 940 turbo sedan. The exterior was in amazing shape for a car from the 1990’s, but if the hood were down, you’d’ve never known what this car could pull off with its modifications.

And because I can’t resist, here’s one last shot of the newer Lambo:

(Also, apropos of nothing: port is an amazing drink. They took out all the sometimes-icky parts of red wine and put in lots more sweet. Nom.)
