Chicago
First off, I strongly dislike musicals. All that droning and singing and stuff doesn’t get it for me. The only musical I have ever loved was The Sound of Music. Corny, right? I like quietly loud movies like Cast Away. That said… Wow. Damn. I am in awe. Assuming everyone was singing with their own voices (even Richard Gere), everyone had great voices, particularly Zeta-Jones. She played her role extremely well, as did everyone. Gere was hilarious and very attractive (something I usually don’t say about him). Queen Latifah was great, although she was a little bigger than I was expecting (surely those boobies were not all hers; she wouldn’t…

Affirmative Action and Race Quotas in America
Affirmative action seems to be a major issue in America lately, both on the local and national level. Here in Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenberg School executives have been biting their own asses in trying to arrange, rearrange, create, and destroy bussing of students back and forth across the county to satisfy race quotas at public schools. On the national level, President GW is stammering his way through proposals to do away with affirmative action in education. But when isn’t he stammering his way through something? Until about two days ago, I cared not at all about affirmative action; on principle, I disliked it, as I found it demeaning that the standards have…

The Date Issue
Wow. That was deceptively easy to fix. Why the hell couldn’t I figure it out last night? For the interested, here is the problem and its solution: I had to move over my old entries from Greymatter into BlogWorks XML. This involved copy/pasting all entries one by one (there were only about 20 of them), then changing the dates of each one. The problem was, however, that the “timestamp” XML elements/variable/whatever, used to state the time and date of the post, was derived using a formula in a function called “HumanToUnix” that basically converted everything to the number of seconds from 1/1/1970 (I think). After attempting to puzzle out the…

Making a bit of progress…
…with the design of this page. I went and ahead and changed to text to black (obviously), and changed to a sans-serif font. Now I’m off to edit the code of BlogWorks to attempt to fix the date issue. On an altogether different note, my mother and the rat are out of town. I wish to hell my father had gone with them, but I basically have this half of the appartment to myself. Now, as soon as he leaves, I can turn on some heat…

Slightly better crap….
Although I am still having issues with the dates (notice there is a date displayed for every entry), I think I have reached a leveling point in the design of this site. Anyone visiting within the past couple of hours probably found things drastically chaged from one refresh to another. I’m not proud of it yet, but I can live with it. I want black text, dammit, plain and simple, but it’s too sharp for these colors… Argggg. This grey crap looks all pasty and won’t print worth a damn, I know. *sigh*. On a better note, my SAT II’s tomorrow are cancelled due to the weather. That’s quite alright,…
