    … you sit through a fifty minute lecture, and at the end find yourself saying, “Why aren’t there any squares in our least-squares method?” A board full of matrices and transposed matrices and n-dimensional vectors and a distinct lack of squared numbers and somehow we come out with a least-squares curve fit… It’s magic, I tell ya, magic.

    I’ve been lax…

    So Thursday morning at 07:00 I did a 45-minute elliptical workout. Again, very nice. Friday I tried a run. I got about 2 mi before my stomach protested. Last night’s run got to 2.4 mi before I had to walk a ways. I managed to finish 5 km last night, but I couldn’t use the rowing machine afterward and I paid for it later. I think I’m going to start padding my runs with elliptical work (40 minutes on elliptical, 20 to 30 minutes of running) and the rowing machine to keep burning, because my stomach isn’t well enough for me to pick up and start running 5 milers again.…

    A brief tidbit on Intellectual Whores

    I never finished my abbreviated thoughts on the Intellectual Whores website. Yes, it is still floating around in my brain. I’m afraid it will for quite some time. I still don’t have much to say about the site and its content other than two brief things before I resume the almighty homework. First, I was and am much more interested in the “intellectual whore” idea than I am the Ladder Theory proper. The latter (haha, a pun) is understandable in some world views and holds only a vague interest to me, as it wasn’t particularly shocking or new to me.
