    Titles on links: straightening up

A combination of my recent job interview and reading Coding Horror reminded me that I’ve been slack on putting title attributes on my links here on the blagonet. The interview because it touched on accessibility, and Coding Horror because Atwood crosslinks a lot of his posts, but doesn’t give the name of the post in the title tag, which means I end up with 30 open tabs to blog entries that I couldn’t cherry-pick thanks to non-semantic URIs and no titles. I also don’t know which of Atwood’s links are internal or external without checking the URIs. Kinda frustrating. So I reactivated my External Links plugin (which puts that nice…

Twelve years later, the internet comes through

I don’t know how movie people determine what goes on the soundtrack for a movie, but I do know that the makers of Blade forgot one: the electronica song that Deacon Frost is listening to on headphones in the library. Right after seeing the movie (1998, so 7th or 8th grade for me), I hopped over to the music store and bought the soundtrack… which didn’t have the song on it. Not sure that I want to downsize my house in particular, but it's an interesting movement. Tiny House In Asheville – I'm increasingly fascinated by this Tiny House movement (and need to do more research on it), although it initially strikes me as a fairly artificial constraint on living. a series of rants – Auntie Pixelante gives good rants. On a non-game-related note (but relevant), I really should stop saying "fail". If I talk to you in person, help me stop saying…

    “Ensuring Safety” posted

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted a story. No good excuse other than “what in the hell happened to my life?”. “Ensuring Safety” follows the Transhuman Congress story “Expanding Borders“. It’s probably a good idea to (re)read the first part before jumping into the second part. Enjoy: I took a deep breath and dialed the number. “Theodore Sbili?” said a soft voice that — I’d have sworn — chittered. There was something insectoid about the voice, a little click under the words. “That’s me,” I said slowly.
