The Wedding
I’ve had a month to reflect and absorb. Surely I can put words to this wedding business now, right? First, go watch the video/slideshow. I punched Picasa repeatedly to make that thing happen (Google’s getting feedback on that mess, hmph!), and I like to think it demonstrates the tone of the wedding. A recording of at least the ceremony is forthcoming, but I gotta figure out how to get it from the cool lady who showed up with a camera. I spent almost a year considering getting married, a few months being really stressed about the planning we weren’t doing “quickly enough”, about three weeks in “whatever, let’s wrap this…

Surprise Wedding Shower!
I try not to be all weddingy at work, although I have a few close colleagues I geek with. (Drama-inducing colleagues, I’ll add. They think I should be super-stressed and overly-picky.) Finally, Some Wedding Relaxation
Within the last week, a few incredible things happened with regards to the wedding: My stress level dropped by about 50%. I got my wedding dress. RSVPs are coming in. We have a marriage license! Wedding planning is fun again! Actually, RSVPs starting coming in last week and are trickling off this week, but we now have People Attending Our Wedding. Which makes this stuff, like, official. So does the marriage license, which was pleasantly easy to get. Greg and I took a couple of hours and worked straight through our Checklist o’ Doom (thank you, Knot), making sure we knew where we stood on everything, clearing out irrelevant tasks,…

Weekly Linkage: Web Work Everywhere!
This week’s internet cruising: A reason to UI test, or “How to fill in the gaps” – "My stance: We unit test the ever-living raccoons out of the app now (thanks in no small part to Jukito). And we do have a UI testing process that was used for major features. While I agreed that we should have more, I was leery that it would make us any more productive. And I doubted it would help us discover any more issues than we already were…" Guide to CSS support in email clients – Articles & Tips … – A nice set of tables covering CSS support in various email clients.…

Wedding Video vs. Photos
A thousand dollars for photos, or a thousand dollars for video? Surely, this is a normal modern bride’s dilemma. If I pick only one to be done professionally, which is better? Or should I pick neither to be done professionally? Disposable cameras on the tables are very “in” now, and neither service is cheap. How often do we really look back on photos? Greg: never. Me: I… like organizing things. On the flip side, how often am I going to watch a video of my own wedding? At our first anniversary? When I’m contemplating divorce in seven decades?
