    Horsies and banquets

Saturday morning, I roused myself out of bed at a decently early hour and drove Luke, Dr. 7, and myself out to Louisville to see the horses race at Churchill Downs. I didn’t take my camera, alas, or I’d have a slew of awesome photos. The weather vascillated between pouring, sprinkling, and sun shiny, but it all worked out pretty well. The horses were awesome (although small and veiny [in the sense of veins-against-skin]) and the company was good. Except the company was awkward. Well, I felt awkward. I hadn’t hung around Luke and Dr. 7 for a couple of weeks, and the dynamics are a little different now, as…

    Grr.

My cold is back in force as of late last night, although it had been abating. I don’t know if it’s fatigue and stress (PLC remains a taboo subject for discussion) or if this shit is mutating as I pass it back and forth with WO. Today we print the last issue of the paper for the year, and we’re going 12 pages instead of our usual 8. This Friday, a big chunk of a PLC project is due (closure is nice, but closures can go away). Saturday I’ll be at the horse races in Louisville. Sunday is the Thorn banquet. Very, very soon, I am just going to stop…

I pulled up directions to Bloomington, Indiana (but not any particular place in Bloomington), and Mother-dear, the Rat, WO, and I took off. We wandered around several blocks down from IU, stopping at a chocolate shop, an awesome bookstore, a gaming store, Urban Outfitters (where I acquired two new shirts), and Cold Stone Creamery. It felt really good to just get out and walk around, like the Basement Crew and I did in San Fran. The Rat had me running all over the damn place, which was fun (again with the desire to…

    Grr.

I’m ill. I suspect it’s the same bug that sent Jenn scrambling for illegal drugs. This may be the first time this school year that I’ve been ill with some bug attacking my immune system that is not a case of allergies. I’m still rather proud of my immune system, even if it glitched now. It also explains why the lack of sleep has been bothering me so much in the past day or so. I cut out of three hours of work yesterday to fall into a short coma in my room, which I justified with the fact that I put in enough hours at my other job to…
