Ding dong, the witch is dead.
Pardon the bit of academic-obsession I’m letting show.

Angry rant of the evening: Evolution debates
I found myself researching something on evolution tonight in order to continue a discussion with WO that came up this weekend, and I found myself infuriated that I’d let myself become involved in another shitty evolution vs. intelligent design discussion. Pardon the poor grammar, but I’m a bit worked up. Would you care to know why I stringently dislike debates about evolution and intelligent design? Because it’s all dogma. People quote that evolution is a “a fact and a theory”–this is a direct quote from Talk Origins–when I think most quasi-educated folk know good and well that no theory is ever a fact. It’s all dogma, and it’s the same…

Snip, snip.
These past few days have been busy and stressful enough to send me to tears. Anyway, we finally got WO’s hair cut (after months of talking about doing it), and… I have photos! Roommate-Guy was less than impressed, but I’m pleased, and WO seems pleased that I’m pleased, so everything is cool. Plus, WO says Roommate-Guy has no taste. And the point is that the fixer uppers won’t ever be fixed. Some fixer-uppers of course just need a little paint and the odd ant trap. Others are an emotional money pit. The hard part is knowing the difference. (From Krista’s November 3 posting.) Read the whole thing. The whole damn thing. Then think about your life. How many times does this type of situation occur? How many times…

Finally, finally.
I finally finished We Few, the latest book by David Weber and John Ringo in the Prince Roger series of stories. I say “finally” because this means I can refocus on homework and stop slacking off. It was a damned good book, but I’m curious as to whether the series will continue. It’s been years since I’ve frequented the Baen discussion groups, so I feel very much out of the loop. *sigh* I have a desire for so much more information than I am currently receiving…
