    Abuse? Naw.

    It is always awkward for me when people hear about my past and are fairly certain I was abused. I mean, I know what abuse is, right? It’s getting beat with a belt buckle or a curling iron or kicked or told you’re a worthless piece of shit every day of your life. Abuse is not… my childhood and teenage years. It’s even more remarkable when people tell me I’m surprisingly stable and well-adjusted given my past. I mean, doesn’t everyone’s parents’ have quirks that made childhood weird?

    Just one of them days

    I got a physical today, and got some surprising (but not more than vaguely scary or bad) news. My car’s “Check Engine” light turned on… and is staying on. Car problems are sadly expensive, and this one (whatever it is) will also require me to be at the shop at 08:00, and possibly to miss class and more work. I got weighed today. Frown. WO and I are both short on sleep, so we’re tired, emotional, and grumpy. Did I mention that car problems are expensive? I didn’t meditate today. I didn’t eat well today.     Ah, podcasts. These things have saved my sanity throughout the summer. Some of these are worthy of linkage and sharing. Not all–luckily, since I listen to entirely too many–but some. First, the [tag]Performance Poetry[/tag] podcast I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. Amazing stuff. Another favorite of mine is Next Big Hit.
